Planning Board backs ban on data centers
Seekonk Planning Board backed a data center ban and took no stance on state-driven zoning changes.
Planning Board · Meeting of October 13, 2026
Seekonk Planning Board backed a data center ban and took no stance on state-driven zoning changes. Town Planner John Aubin presented a prohibition using a definition from Holyoke that the Attorney General's Office had already approved, and the board gave it a unanimous positive recommendation after four residents spoke in favor. Resident Barbara Hayden asked for something that says "go away, we don't want you." The board earlier split 3-2, with one abstention, on making no recommendation on seven amendments conforming the bylaw to the state enabling statute.
It also approved site plans for a solar carport at 75 Industrial Way and a building at 1241 Fall River Avenue, and continued a roughly 23,000-square-foot proposal at 30 Industrial Way pending conservation and technical reviews.
