Planning Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Seekonk Planning Board approves a farmland solar array and pushes a data center ban toward Fall Town Meeting. The board voted unanimously, with Clerk Bruce Hoch recused as an abutter, to approve Jose DeSousa's dual-use solar field on County and Miller streets, conditioned on a 25-foot vegetative buffer, fire department sign-off and a decommissioning bond of up to 125 percent of removal costs. Abutter Rebecca Henderson said renderings used to approve the project never showed the view from her elevated property.

Town Planner John Aubin III walked the board through zoning bylaw amendments required by new state Chapter 40A rules, including a possible data center prohibition modeled on an Attorney General-approved Mansfield bylaw, with a public hearing eyed for October. The board also voted to recommend the Zoning Board of Appeals reject sidewalk and roadway-width waivers sought by the 95 Sagamore Road 40B development and reconsider its Miller Street access point near a pond.
