Select Board · Meeting of April 8, 2026

SEEKONK — The Select Board and School Committee ended a joint session still apart on the school budget. A member said no vote had been taken but he was "not in favor of cutting any of the town budgets." The School Committee has requested a 3.95 percent increase, which Town Administrator Shawn E. Cadime said would require finding just under $500,000. Cadime said the town funds about 76 percent of the school budget and that roughly $8.5 million in Chapter 70 aid goes entirely to the schools.

Member Michael Healy outlined about $470,000 in possible town-side cuts, and the police, fire and public works heads described the effects. The board recommended a $725,000 pool HVAC article 3-2 and continued the FY27 budget hearing to April 15.
