Select Board · Meeting of October 14, 2026

Seekonk Select Board voted to relaunch its search for a DPW building committee after an earlier $40 million design collapsed. Vice Chair Michael P. Healy moved to solicit five volunteers through the board's committee-openings process rather than limit planning to an advisory pairing of the chair and building commissioner, and the board approved it unanimously.

DPW Superintendent Dave Cabral said two pending warrant articles, $50,000 for a feasibility study and $100,000 for infrastructure, would fund next steps on a parcel the town already bought for $1.2 million. One board member said, "I don't think the people of this town are prepared to spend $30 million on a DPW site," while Chair Gary Sagar said DPW staff have "been pushed aside for way too long." The board separately approved Christina Testa, a 22-year town employee, as Human Resources Director, and raised seasonal snowplow vendor bonuses from $1,000 to $1,500 while adding a new $300 driver bonus.
