Seekonk Select Board Denies Two Auto Dealer Licenses, Approves Five Personnel Actions
SEEKONK — December 18, 2019 — Seekonk Select Board denies motor vehicle license renewals for two businesses and approves five personnel actions at December 18 meeting. The board voted 4 to 1 twice to deny 2020 Class 2 motor vehicle license renewals for Redline Auto Sales Services and Continental Auto, both found noncompliant after receiving notice in April, while extending New England Collision's license through February pending Planning Board action on January 14. "If all these other businesses, and we had a ton of them, can come in compliance, there's no reason in the world why these last three can't," said board member Almeida. The board separately appointed Kevin Polson of North Dighton as a full-time public safety dispatcher, approved a conditional hire for Massachusetts State Police dispatcher Charles McLaughlin of Bellingham as a part-time dispatcher, and promoted three Department of Public Works employees — Jason Ether to foreman and James Halpin and Jonathan Hurst to operator laborer — all effective December 19. The board also accepted a $4,142.75 state grant for a fire department gear wash extractor and a $650 Medication, Education, and Disposal Project grant for the Police Department's lobby drug-disposal box.
